BJCVS Invited Editorial: Dr Rodolfo A. Neirotti

Dr. Rodolfo A. Neirotti received his medical degree in 1964 and his doctorate in Medicine in 1972, both from the National University of Rosario School of Medicine, Rosario, Argentina. He became a certified cardiovascular surgeon in December of 1979. Prior to his graduation, he was Assistant of Surgery at the University Hospital in Rosario, Argentina and received additional training on cardiopulmonary bypass and surgery at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Hospital das Clinicas in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Following graduation, he held several positions of responsibility including Staff Member, Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at Children’s Hospital of Buenos Aires; Visiting Surgeon in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at Green Lane Hospital in Auckland (New Zealand); Chief of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at Hospital Italiano in Buenos Aires; Chief of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam, and finally Medical Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery of the DeVos Children Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI, USA.

There are 53 publications in peer reviewed journals to his credit. He has delivered 307 lectures and papers in meetings and congresses worldwide. He is an active member of several professional organizations of medical excellence, among them, the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), the European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS) and the Congenital Heart Surgeons Society (CHSS) and Honorary Member of seven international organizations. Recently he retired, and subsequently he earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Dr. Neirotti currently maintaining a very active lifestyle and has moved to Argentina since retirement. He is advising with some groups in Latin America in the field of pediatric cardiac surgery. He also serves with some Journals as a member of their editorial boards such as the Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, and Archivos de Cardiología de México. In addition, he also advises the committee of education of the Harvard Club of Argentina and advising the Brazilian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery.
