Maulik Baxi, MD, MPH

 

Maulik Baxi joined the CHSS Data Center in August 2008 as Research Program Manager. Maulik has background in clinical medicine and public health with diverse research and leadership experiences. He graduated from Medical College, Baroda in India  2006. After a year’s primary care practice, Maulik joined Columbia University in New York for graduate education. Maulik graduated in 2008 with Master of Public Health in Environmental and Molecular Epidemiology. His final research topic focused on environmental molecular cardiology.

 

As a medical student, Maulik initiated a research project to analyze the deficits in Essential Trauma Care Services in India. The survey results based on the WHO criteria helped enact legislation and development of uniform emergency medical services for Gujarat state in India. Maulik’s interest into the pandemic of HIV/AIDS drove him to study its social aspects with special emphasis on young people. He traveled to Canada and Egypt as a youth leader and WHO consultant. Maulik had also chaired the Youth Advisory Committee for the International AIDS Conference at Toronto in August 2006.

 

Since Maulik has stepped into the shoes of the research program manager at the CHSS Data Center, he has contributed to the organization and helps to expand its scope and activities in all spheres.
